There are 3 stages of chiropractic care. The first stage focuses on symptomatic relief, which includes pain reduction and any general discomfort. The second stage of care addresses tissue healing and normalizing its functions. The final stage consists of spinal checkups to prevent the formation of new injuries, minimize future reoccurrence of old injuries, and prevent degenerative spinal processes.
Relief care is the first stage and provides the basis for relief from pain, inflammation, and discomfort. The main goal of this stage is to provide the patient with systematic relief. Dr. Kaput employs treatments that use chiropractic techniques that allow for relief to be delivered fast and effectively. The purpose is for patients to be able to continue their daily activities without feeling hindered or plagued by pain or discomfort. Dr. Kaput urges patients to take it easy, but still encourages mobility so patients increase circulation. Therapies that help to reduce inflammation and muscle tension are also applied in the relief care.
Corrective care is a longer and more tedious stage. This stage involves correcting the problems that brought about the injuries and conditions so that the injured tissues can be rehabilitated and healed. Tissue healing is not an overnight process and just because the patient does not feel pain anymore does not mean that the body has healed completely. During this stage, it is very important that patients adhere to Dr. Kaput’s instructions and keep their appointments so that the body can fully recover and heal and it can reach its full potential.
After the spinal tissues have been healed and corrected, Dr. Kaput recommends spinal checkups to ensure proper alignment is maintained. Depending on the patient and their activities they partake in, will determine how often patients need to return. Periodic chiropractic checkups serve a main purpose of prevention of tissue injuries before the symptoms of pain and discomfort arrive.
