Adjustments are a homeopathic, safe, and noninvasive treatment used by Dr. Kaput to help restore and improve overall health.  Dr. Kaput has developed his technique of adjusting over several years of study and practice.  Chiropractic doctors are the only trained health professionals to administer chiropractic adjustments. Spinal adjustments performed by any other untrained individual or health care professional can be very harmful and less effective.

What Is A Spinal Adjustment?

The spinal adjustment or manipulation refers to the procedure in which Dr. Kaput applies a controlled force into one or more vertebrae of the spine that are subluxated.  More frequently than not, the adjustment is primarily used in the pelvic area to help normalize and balance the sacroiliac joints.  Dr. Kaput delivers adjustments primarily with his hands and will also utilize a specialized mechanical tool.

When Should Spinal Adjustments Be Given?

Every day you use your body whether it be from walking and exercising or to standing up and sitting.  The use of your body everyday can cause vertebrae of the spine to become impaired and thus deviate from their proper position causing impaired functioning.  Vertebrae that lose their normal position or proper motion are known as vertebral subluxations. Dr. Kaput applies severeal unique tests and procedures to determine which, if any, vertebrae are subluxated. If subluxations are found, immediate correction is often applied.  Sometimes, however, certain subluxations are not painful during the beginning, but Dr. Kaput urges even those individuals who are not experiencing any neck or back problems to receive periodic spinal evaluations.

What Do Spinal Adjustments Do?

Adjustments are the main component to chiropractic care as they help to correct vertebral subluxations.  By correcting subluxations, pain and inflammation are dramatically reduced, the spinal misalignments are normalized, tension and muscle spasms are reduced and relieved, and there is reduced nerve irritation and improved nerve communication.  All of these combined allow the body to reach an improved state of health and wellness.  Chiropractic adjustments are the only option to correct vertebral subluxations and the chiropractor is the only trained health professional to deliver these spinal corrections.

The Non-Spinal Adjustment

Chiropractors can also adjust other joints of the body.  Other joints include wrists and ankles, elbows and knees, hands, ribs and jaws, shoulders, and hips.

Similar to the spine, these joints can become misaligned and can cause pain and discomfort to patients.  Many athletes find these joint adjustments to be a blessing as they help to increase the range of motion and help relive their highly stressed joints.  By increasing the range of motion, this allows for the body to deliver necessary nutrients and healing factors to the effected extremities as well as to eliminate waste.

Have you ever heard that “cracking” your knuckles is not healthy for you and can potentially increase your chances of getting arthritis?  Believe or not, research has actually shown that individuals who “crack” their knuckles on a regular basis over their lifetime actually decrease the incidence of arthritis in their knuckles. The reasoning behind this is that the “cracking” allows for nutrients and healing factors to reach the joint and increases the range of motion and eliminates waste.
